Pedal 4 Pounds 9

A Big Well Done From All Of Us!

We are the proud sponsors of Huddersfield Town Football Club and Charity event ‘Pedal for Pounds’. Recently 175 cyclists took part in a 282 mile fundraising bike ride across France and Belgium to commemorate the 6 Huddersfield Town players who lost their lives during WW1.

After arriving in Belgium the day before from Hull, the hard work began on the 9th in Avelin, where they began a 60 mile ride to Albert, France stopping en route to visit the memorials of Town players; Edward John Didymus (12/04/1918) Leigh Roose (07/10/1916) and Charles Edward Randall (27/09/1916) where flowers and tributes were laid.

Day 2 saw them complete a 76 mile journey from Albert to Ypres stopping at St Martin sur Cojeul and Ploegsteert, calling at the graves of Sidney James (09/04/1917) and Larrett Roebuck (18/10/1914). The last day of 57 miles from Ypres to Zeebrugge had just one stop at the Coxyde Military Cemetery where they visited the memorial of Ernest George Kenworthy (10/11/1917).

The amazing cyclists still found the energy to do their traditional lap around the John Smith Stadium last Sunday before the Club’s final game of the Premier League season against Arsenal.

Once again, the team are very proud to be a sponsor of this event and well done to all that took part
